Oyo NLC Decries Abduction in Ogbomoso, Calls for Swift Rescue of Victims

…As Labour leaders urge intensified security operations and prosecution of perpetrators

The Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Council, has condemned the recent bandit attack and abduction incident in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State, describing it as a serious threat to peace and security.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman of the union, Comrade Kayode Martins, the NLC expressed concern over the trauma and hardship caused to affected families, schools, and communities.

The union described the attack as a criminal act against innocent citizens and a threat to educational stability and socio-economic development in the state.

The council also sympathized with the people of Ogbomoso, the Oyo State Government, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers, following reports that teachers, pupils, and other residents were affected by the incident.

The NLC reaffirmed its support for the efforts of security agencies and the Oyo State Government to rescue the abducted victims and restore peace in the area.

The labour union further called for intensified security operations and urged authorities to ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

According to the statement, the safety of workers, teachers, students, and residents across Oyo State must remain a top priority.

The NLC also prayed for the safe return of all abducted victims and lasting peace across Oyo State and Nigeria.
