Adeoye Unveils ‘Àtunto Èkó 1.0’, Promises Inclusive Prosperity for Lagos

…Says manifesto will deliver power, affordable housing, healthcare, jobs and security across Lagos

Ahead of the governorship election in Lagos State, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Prince Laja Adeoye, yesterday unveiled his campaign manifesto, Àtunto Èkó 1.0 – Re-Engineering Lagos for Inclusive Prosperity, promising a transformative roadmap for the state.

The event held at Delta Continental Hotel, Ajao Estate, Lagos, attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders, industry captains, youth and women’s groups, students, party leaders, and representatives of the business community.

Addressing the gathering, Adeoye described himself as a proud Lagosian with deep ancestral roots across the IBILE divisions, tracing his heritage to both Ijebu communities in Ikorodu and Epe, and the Awori lineage from Isolo and other parts of Lagos West.

He said Lagos is not just his home, but his identity and heritage, motivating his aspiration to serve.Adeoye recounted his early foray into leadership as Secretary General of the Students’ Union at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, and as co-founder of Patriots UNILAG at the University of Lagos, where he became an advocate for social justice and against police brutality.

He said these experiences shaped his commitment to equity and good governance, a principle he has carried into his professional career.

Speaking on the state of Lagos, Adeoye criticized successive administrations for persistent challenges including power outages, flooding, inadequate housing, poor healthcare, youth unemployment, insecurity, and social exclusion.”Lagos deserves better.

The time has come for a genuine RESET,” he said.Adeoye explained his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to APM, citing unresolved leadership tussles within PDP as a distraction from addressing Lagosians’ pressing issues.

He described APM as “the government-in-waiting,” emphasising integrity, competence, and people-centered leadership as core values.Àtunto Èkó 1.0, Adeoye said, is a comprehensive manifesto connecting every sector of the state into a cohesive ecosystem of transformation.

He promised reliable power through Independent Power Projects and renewable energy, potable water, flood mitigation, modern infrastructure including the 4th Mainland Bridge, affordable and climate-resilient housing, quality education with a focus on STEM and TVET, world-class healthcare, and robust socialprotection for the vulnerable.

Economic expansion, he said, would be driven by SME support, formalisation of the informal sector, technology hubs, creative industries, agriculture, the blue economy, and responsible natural resource development, including new refineries and petrochemical plants.

Security would be strengthened through state and community policing, Amotekun, and technology, while root causes of insecurity would be addressed through youth and women empowerment.

The aspirant also outlined plans to digitize the civil service, grant full local government autonomy by converting the 37 LCDAs into 57 LGAs, ensure transparent fiscal management, and establish an inclusive Lagos State Elders and Advisory Council to replace the existing Governor’s Advisory Council.

Emphasizing accountability, Adeoye said rule of law, anti-corruption measures, and contractor accountability would be non-negotiable, backed by clear timelines, ring-fenced funding, public-private partnerships, and Alternative Project Funding Approaches.

He projected attracting a minimum of $100 billion in foreign direct investment to transform Lagos into the mega-city residents have long envisioned.

Adeoye urged Lagosians from all walks of life to rally behind APM, asserting the party prioritizes citizens’ welfare. He also appealed to INEC, the judiciary, and security agencies to remain neutral and professional in the 2027 elections.

“The people want change from the APC to the APM,” he said, noting growing public dissatisfaction with imposed leadership.

Promising good governance, security, affordable housing, job creation, pro-people policies, quality healthcare, and shared prosperity, he said: “Together, we will move Lagos from challenges to solutions, from darkness to light, from congestion to connectivity, from insecurity to safety, and from survival to shared prosperity. A new Lagos is unfolding.”
