Mrs Makinde Charges Children on Love, Kindness at Christmas Party

The Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Tamunomini Makinde, has urged children in the state to embrace the values of love, kindness, honesty, and hard work as they grow into future leaders.

The First Lady made this call during the Oyo State Christmas Party for Children held at Agodi Gardens, Ibadan.

She was represented at the event by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ajibola Lawal.

Speaking at the celebration, Engr. Makinde described Christmas as a special season that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, who exemplified compassion and kindness during His lifetime.

She noted that the festive period is a time for love, joy, and giving, stressing the importance of sharing happiness with others, especially children.

According to her, the event was organised to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and to put smiles on the faces of children across the state.

Addressing the children, the First Lady encouraged them to uphold honesty, work hard in all they do, and strive to be the best versions of themselves.

She also emphasized the importance of kindness, noting that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a significant difference.

The First Lady further urged residents to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to reach out to the less privileged by extending love and support.

Earlier in her welcome address, The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun emphasized the role of parents, guardians, and caregivers in nurturing children, calling on them to continue raising their wards in the fear of God and to work hand in hand with the government to ensure that children grow into responsible and productive individuals.

She also charged the children to use the occasion to thank God for His mercies, including the gift of life, shelter, and other basic necessities.

Mrs. Balogun encouragrd everyone to remain grateful for even the simplest blessings of life and to commit themselves to living purposeful lives while striving to become the best versions of themselves.

The children enjoyed several fun-filled activities, including a visit from Santa Claus, who came bearing gifts for all attendees.
