Sustain Pressure on Criminals, Army GOC Tells 32 Artillery Brigade

…As Mahmuda urges troops to maintain aggressive posture across Ondo AOR

The General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has charged troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade to sustain their operational tempo and deny criminal elements freedom of action within their area of responsibility.

Major Gen. Mahmuda gave the charge during his maiden operational visit to Owena Cantonment, Akure, Ondo State, on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The GOC said he had been closely monitoring the security challenges within the Brigade’s area of responsibility, noting that the challenges were similar to those confronting other formations.

He commended the troops for their efforts in tackling the security threats and urged them to sustain their aggressive posture in combating contemporary security challenges.

Major Gen. Mahmuda also assured the troops that their welfare remained a priority under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, in line with the Army’s “Soldiers First” concept.

He noted that the recent salary increase was part of efforts to appreciate the sacrifices and services of military personnel to the nation.

The GOC, however, urged the troops to reciprocate the government’s efforts by remaining professional and committed to their duties.

He called on them to “up their game” and continue to make the Nigerian Army and the country proud.

Earlier, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Jibrin Garba, welcomed the GOC and his entourage to the Brigade.

He briefed the General Officer Commanding on the operational disposition of the Brigade and other matters under his command.
