Makinde promises to abide, implement Olubadan-In-Coumcil’s final decision on chieftaincy system
…restates commitment to revisit chieftaincy debacle in Oyo
Oyo state governor Engineer Seyi makinde has declared that he will be ready to approve any internal reform on chieftaincy issues which will be emanating from Olubadan-in-council.
Governor Makinde made the declaration while campaigning across Akinyele local government and speaking with traditional rulers in the council, held at the council hall, Moniya, Ibadan.
Makinde said that it is wrong for government to make the internal reform needed by the traditional rulers but must allowed the reform to come from those who owns the institution which his administration will allow the Olubadan-in-council to do by themselves and bring to government to approve.
He further promised to review the 5 percent allocation to traditional rulers in the state, noting that he will never work against the interest of the traditional institution.
Makinde further appealed to council of Oba’s and Olubadan-in-council to come together and come up with an internal reform noting that the reform from Olubadan-in-council is sustainable.
