Sanwo-Olu, Fashola, Laja Adeoye, Others to Attend Ibile Eko Summit
…Key actors to address urbanisation, indigenous inclusion in Lagos development
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside former governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, are among top dignitaries expected at the Ibile Eko Summit scheduled for April 15, 2026.
The event, organised by the Ibile Eko Summit Foundation, will host the General Assembly of Indigenous Associations in Lagos State.
It will take place at MUSON Centre, Onikan, with proceedings set to commence at 11:00 a.m.
The summit, themed “Addressing Urbanization and Urban Challenges of Lagos State,” aims to provide a platform for indigenous Lagosians to discuss pressing developmental issues, strengthen collective interests, and explore sustainable solutions to the challenges posed by rapid urbanisation.
Sanwo-Olu is expected to attend as Chief Host and Special Guest of Honour, while Fashola will deliver the keynote address.
Also expected at the high-level gathering is Laja Adeoye, a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Lagos State and a known advocate for indigenous heritage and urban development.
Adeoye’s participation underscores his longstanding commitment to promoting policies that balance modernization with the preservation of Lagos’ cultural identity. His advocacy focuses on inclusive urban planning, strategic housing development for indigenous communities, and safeguarding historical landmarks amid the state’s rapid expansion.
According to organisers, the summit will facilitate dialogue, networking, and actionable strategies aimed at ensuring that indigenous Lagosians remain actively involved in shaping the future of the state.
The Foundation, led by its President, Olasupo Shasore, emphasised the need for renewed commitment and broader participation among indigenes to address emerging socio-economic challenges.
Participants are expected to deliberate on pathways to sustainable development while preserving Lagos’ heritage, with a strong call for unity and collective responsibility in securing the state’s future.
