Oba Rashidi Ladoja Honoured With The Sun Lifetime Achievement Award in Lagos

Queen Rashidat Olayinka Ladoja, wife of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), was by her husband’s side as he received the prestigious The Sun Lifetime Achievement Award in Lagos.

The award was conferred on Oba Ladoja on Saturday, January 31, 2026, by The Sun Publishing Limited, publishers of The Sun Newspaper, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to governance, traditional leadership, and national development.

The ceremony, held at the Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted prominent personalities from across the country.

In attendance were captains of industry, political leaders including serving and former governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, traditional rulers, as well as friends and family of the award recipient.

Speaking while celebrating her husband’s achievement, Queen Rashidat described Oba Ladoja as a dedicated leader who has committed his life to the service of humanity.

She noted that his leadership continues to positively impact the people of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large, emphasizing his diligence, compassion, humility, and selfless service.

According to the Queen, Oba Ladoja ascended the throne of his forebears in September 2025, and since then, his humanitarian and developmental initiatives have intensified.

She stated that his vision is focused on positioning Ibadan as a socio-economic and industrial hub, while creating an enabling environment for investment and employment opportunities for the youth.

Queen Rashidat expressed joy over the conferment of the Lifetime Achievement Award, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her husband’s lifelong contributions across various sectors of society.

She added that his disciplined lifestyle and strong work ethic, evident during his tenure as Governor of Oyo State, continue to reflect in his leadership as a traditional ruler.

The Queen, who is a legal practitioner, prayed for her husband’s continued good health and wisdom as he works towards the development of Ibadanland and the welfare of its people.

She also expressed appreciation to all dignitaries and well-wishers who honoured the Olubadan with their presence and support at the award ceremony.
