Oyo PDP Chieftain, Bibire Abayomi Fagbenro bags award as SDG Ambassador

A Chieftain of Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro ‘Bibire’ has been honoured with an Award of Sustainable Development Goal Ambassador (SDG Ambassador) in recognition of his positive contributions and accomplishments in the space of youth empowerment, humanitarian services and in nation building.

Hon. Fagbenro who was honoured today by the Peace Corps of Nigeria an Affiliate to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Fagbenro who was represented by Pastor Sam Akanbi to collect the Award on his behalf.

In his address the chairperson of organizing committee of the Peace Corps, Omolola Ahmed congratulated Hon. Fagbenro for his immense contribution to Nation building and for committing his energy and resources towards the the attainment of SDG’s and work for the common good of all mankind.

According to her “We are please to inform you that in special recognition of your positive contributions and accomplishments in the realms and space of Good Governance, Youth Empowerment, Humanitarian services and Nation building, the Peace Corps Council being the Highest decision-making organ of PCN, has passed a resolution to honour you with the prestigious and globally recognized Award of Sustainable Development Goal Ambassador (SDG Ambassador).

She further averred that “The SDG Award is however designed to empower individuals who guided by the spirit and letters of the United Nations Charter, that commit their time, energy and resources towards the attainment of the SDG’s and work for the common good of all mankind.

Mrs Omolola noted that the concern mentioned of the Award has qualifies Hon. Fagbenro for United Nations Annual Ground Pass which will enable him to be officially attend United Nations conferences, including the general assembly in 2024 which will in New York, USA or any of his regional office in Geneva, Switzerland.

In his remark, the recipient, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro represented by Pastor Sam Akanbi commended Peace Corps and United Nations for the confernment and also to recognized his contributions to Nations building.

He promised not to relent in empowering the vulnerable in the society and to make sure the less privilege are been lifted up with what God has given to him.

The Award Presentation is part of of the activities lined up for the organization forthcoming Public Lecture to commemorate PCN’s Silver Jubilee.
