… As Accreditation Team Commends Gov. Makinde’s Health Support

The management of Oyo State Hospitals’ Management Board (OYSHMB) has received reports from the accreditation team of Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board of Nigeria (MRTBN) on accreditation of 7 Physiotherapy units in its facilities within Ibadan metropolis.

The hospitals visited during the accreditation exercise are the Staff Clinic Secretariat, Adeoyo Hospital, Yemetu, Ring Road Hospital, Oni Memorial Hospital, Jericho Specialist Hospital, Jericho Nursing Home, and General Hospital Apata.

The leader of the accreditation team, the former registrar of the MRTBN, Dr. Mrs. Olufunke Akanle commended the Oyo state governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, and the chairman of the Oyo State Hospitals’ Management Board (OYSHMB), Dr. Akin Fagbemi, and their team for their foresight, visionary mind, and support of the health sector.

Dr. Akanle also said, “Accreditation is not to tell what is right but what can be done for improvement.”

She therefore advised the state government to establish Oyo State University of Medical Science at Ring Road Hospital, which showcases majority of the services in OYSHMB, and looking at the availability of space and a lot of facilities in the hospital for students to utilize.

The chairman of the OYSHMB, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, said the board is glad the report of accreditation is coming at a strategic opportunity for the government, laying bare areas for improvement.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Mrs. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, thanked the accreditation team led by Dr. Akanle for the job well done and promised the team that the government will look into areas pointed out in the brief and take positive steps to improve.

In her closing remark, the Director of Physiotherapy in the board, Mrs. L.O. Okunade, appreciated the governor of Oyo state, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, for his unwavering support to the health family in the state, ensuring all citizens enjoy good healthcare services under the Omi-Tuntun 2.0 agenda, and prayed for journey mercy for the accreditation team.
