2027:Makinde’s Wife Mobilises Oyo Women for APM
…As She urges women to obtain PVCs, support Makinde, shun violence and rumours
Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, has urged women across the state to actively participate in the 2027 general elections and support candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Mrs. Makinde made the call on Wednesday during a Women Stakeholders’ Welcome Back and Small Town Hall Meeting held at the First Lady’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Addressing the gathering, she urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and exercise their franchise, while calling on women to encourage their husbands, children, relatives, friends and neighbours who are eligible to vote to participate in the electoral process.
Mrs. Makinde, who specifically called for support for her husband, Governor Seyi Makinde, in his presidential bid on the APM platform, also appealed to women and other political actors to avoid hatred, rumours and violence during the electioneering period.

She said women occupy an important position in society through their roles in families, businesses and communities, adding that their collective voice could contribute to shaping the direction of the state and country.
Also speaking, the Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, called on women to support the APM, saying the gathering provided an opportunity for women to interact, express their concerns and contribute to the development agenda of the state.

Sanni said the Ministry would continue to promote programmes covering women’s economic empowerment, education, healthcare, protection from gender-based violence and increased participation of women in leadership and decision-making.
She urged women to reciprocate what she described as the support and inclusion they had received from the present administration by mobilising support for APM candidates in the 2027 elections.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Olajide, called on women to remain united and support what she described as continuity in governance.
Olajide said the administration of Governor Makinde had, in her assessment, made the task of campaigning easier for those seeking to sustain its programmes. She urged women to support APM candidates, including the party’s presidential candidate, Governor Makinde, and its Oyo State governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.
The Director of Women Mobilisation for the APM Presidential and Gubernatorial Election Campaign, Hon. Ramota Dabo, also used the occasion to call for increased mobilisation of women ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dabo urged the women to support Governor Makinde for president and Adekanmbi for governor, as well as other APM candidates contesting for elective positions at the federal, state and local government levels.
She said the engagement was aimed at strengthening women’s participation and ensuring that information about the APM and its candidates reached communities across Oyo State.
The meeting brought together women from different groups and backgrounds, including community leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, artisans, market women and representatives of women’s organisations.
