2027: APM Guber Candidate, Adeoye Slams APC Over Lagos Housing Crisis, promises Affordable Homes

..As APM candidate says govt must build on Late Jakande’s Housing Legacy

The Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has criticised the state government’s approach to addressing the housing crisis, describing calls for residents to share apartments or continue living with their parents as an admission of failure.

Adeoye stated this in a reaction to comments by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, on the housing situation in the state.

He said, “The solution to Lagos State’s housing crisis is not to tell residents to share apartments or continue living with their parents. That is not leadership; it is an admission of failure.”

Adeoye argued that Lagos requires a deliberate and practical housing policy capable of providing affordable homes across different parts of the state through direct government intervention and genuine public-private partnerships.

According to him, “Alhaji Lateef Jakande showed that it is possible. It is not rocket science. We only need the political will to modernise and build on that proven approach.”

The APM candidate also proposed the empowerment of more than 100,000 new entrepreneurs annually through seed capital, saying such an initiative would create jobs, increase household incomes and enable more Lagos residents to afford decent accommodation.

He said, “Lagos has the market and the population for these businesses to scale quickly. When people earn well, they can afford decent homes of their own without being forced to crowd into family houses or share cramped apartments.”

Adeoye maintained that governance should focus on finding workable solutions to citizens’ challenges rather than advising residents to manage scarcity.

He stressed, “Governance is not about managing scarcity with lazy advice. It is about solving problems with clear, workable solutions.”

He further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of failing to prioritise people-oriented housing policies, alleging that the party had instead pursued the interests of political godfathers.

Adeoye said, “The ruling APC will rather not do pro-people housing projects but do the bidding of its godfathers. An APM government in Lagos and in Nigeria will bring good governance to your doorstep. You will see the difference clearly.”

The APM candidate pledged that an APM-led government in Lagos and Nigeria would prioritise good governance and implement policies aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.
