Makinde Begins Nationwide Engagement, Targets Six Geopolitical Zones
…APM candidate cites Osun election as evidence of citizens’ power to determine political outcomes
The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, says he will embark on a nationwide tour of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones as part of efforts to engage stakeholders and interact directly with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde stated this in a message on social media handles following the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, saying his campaign would focus on putting Nigerians first and resetting the country to work for the benefit of all citizens.
He said the tour would provide opportunities to engage workers, business owners, farmers, youths and families, while listening to their concerns on issues including insecurity, unemployment, rising cost of living, poor business conditions and access to economic opportunities.
According to him, the campaign’s manifesto, tagged “The Reset Agenda,” is currently undergoing stakeholders’ review and will focus on security, the economy, the cost-of-living crisis and food security, among other national issues.
Makinde stressed that the campaign would go beyond slogans and political promises, urging Nigerians to assess the records, ideas and capacity of all candidates to deliver on their commitments.
He also cited the recent Osun State governorship election as an example of the power of citizens’ participation, saying the outcome demonstrated that voters could determine the direction of governance when they actively participate in the electoral process.
The APM candidate therefore urged Nigerians to participate actively in the 2027 election by attending town hall meetings, scrutinising campaign proposals and asking difficult questions, rather than allowing the election to be reduced to ethnicity, religion or political entertainment.
Makinde said he would in the coming weeks provide further details on the Reset Nigeria Agenda and opportunities for Nigerians to contribute to his vision for the country.
