…As Victim reunited with family as security agencies launch operation to arrest fleeing abductors.
The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted in the early hours of August 5, 2026, at Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest.
The Command said the rescue followed a distress report lodged by the victim’s father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters shortly after the incident.
According to the Police, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised a joint team comprising police operatives, personnel of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters to launch a coordinated search-and-rescue operation in the area.
The Command said the security team combed the surrounding bushes and adjoining Government Reserve Forest, mounting sustained pressure that forced the abductors to abandon the teenager and flee deeper into the forest.
The victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.
The Police added that intelligence-led operations have been intensified within the forest and neighbouring communities to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects. It noted that investigations are ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters for their bravery, professionalism and collaboration during the operation. He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and strengthened inter-agency cooperation, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security efforts across the state.
