Olufadejin Family Rejects Alleged Mogaji Imposition by Olubadan

…Calls for removal of proposed appointee from installation list to prevent unrest

A crisis may be brewing within the Olufadejin family of Alekuso in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State, following allegations that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is attempting to impose a preferred candidate as the family’s Mogaji.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Elder Dauda Adesina on behalf of the Olufadejin family, in which the family accused the monarch of seeking to install Mr. Fatai Omosanjo Amzat as the compound head against the wishes of a section of the family.

The family recalled that the last Mogaji of the Olufadejin family was the late Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, former Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, industrialist, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (South), and PDP governorship candidate in Oyo State, who died on April 4, 2025.

According to the statement, the contest for the vacant Mogaji position was between Mr. Akeem Adeojo and Mr. Fatai Omosanjo Amzat, with the first family election reportedly producing Akeem Adeojo as the winner under the supervision of the Mogaji Committee.

The family, however, alleged that after objections to the initial outcome and a second election that ended in a draw, efforts were made by some family members to influence the selection process in favour of Mr. Amzat.

It further claimed that the Olubadan later included Mr. Amzat among the proposed Mogajis to be installed without first meeting with the contestants and family members to resolve the dispute.

The Olufadejin family appealed to the Olubadan to remove Mr. Amzat’s name from the installation list and allow the family to choose its Mogaji in accordance with Ibadan tradition, warning that any perceived imposition could trigger a crisis within the family.

The family also alleged that the Olubadan-in-Council had earlier concluded the list of Mogajis before the monarch allegedly sought to include his preferred candidate.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Olubadan’s Palace regarding the allegations.
