Oyo State Police Begin Statewide Enforcement Against Unmarked Vehicles, Fake Number Plates

Oyo State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement operation targeting unmarked vehicles, fake and obscured number plates, as well as unauthorized covering of vehicle registration plates as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities across the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command said the operation is aimed at ensuring compliance with lawful vehicle identification standards while enhancing public safety and the state’s security architecture.

According to the statement, the enforcement exercise, which began on Wednesday, forms part of ongoing measures to rid the state of violent crimes and other forms of criminality.

The Command warned that individuals found violating the directives would be arrested, while affected vehicles and motorcycles would be impounded in accordance with existing laws and operational procedures.

The police also disclosed that intermittent stop-and-search operations, intelligence-led patrols and coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts would be sustained across the state.

It added that personnel would be strategically deployed to increase police visibility in both urban and rural communities.

The Command urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel during the operations, assuring that all enforcement activities would be conducted professionally, lawfully and with respect for human rights.

It also appreciated the continued support of residents in efforts to maintain peace and security across Oyo State.
