Makinde Honours Olunloyo, Renames Polytechnic After Late Mathematician
…Olunloyo remembered for his pioneering role in education, public service
The renowned Polytechnic, Ibadan, have been renamed to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan in honour of the former Governor of old Oyo State.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, made the announcement at 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 for the 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 and pioneer Principal of the institution, held at 𝐎𝐛𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐢 𝐀𝐰𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦.
According to Governor Makinde, described the late mathematician as a technocrat and man with deep sense of culture.
Earlier in sermon, former Archbishop of Anglican, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, charged Nigerians to play their respective roles in transforming the nation, prayed God to raise more heroes for the betterment of Nigeria.
Bishop Ladigbolu, commended Governor Makinde for honouring Dr. Olunloyo, during his life time and after. Governor Makinde had earlier airport road and Omololu Olunloyo leisure park, both at Alakia area after Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, who died on 6th April, 2025, few days to his 90th birthday.
