Oyo Govt Trains Education Stakeholders on Early Childhood Care Dev. Education Policy Implementation
… reiterates commitment to improving early childhood education
Oyo State Government, through the ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has taken a significant step towards improving early childhood education by training education stakeholders on Early Childhood Development Education:Policy implementation and Best Practices.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof.Salihu Adelabu, while declaring the Workshop open at the Local Government Staff Training Center, Secretariat, Ibadan, said there is a need to sensitize stakeholders on the new policy implementation of Early Child Care Education in the state.
He explained that the workshop is one of the 2025 Ministry’s strategies to enhance the quality of education and care provided to young children in the state.
He hinted that the training programme is part of the government’s efforts to address the key challenges in the education sector and ensure that no child is left behind in acquiring sustainable and productive skills, saying empowering education stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills.
He said the focus of the training was based on two major skills, literary and numeracy, adding that the government hopes to create a solid foundation for early childhood development in the state.
He noted that the ministry carefully selected the stakeholders from education to form the participants of the capacity building.
Earlier in her remarks, Director, Basic Education, Mrs Abosede Olabode said during the last year joint Council on Education at Abuja, the new policy on the implementation of Early Childhood Care Development Education was developed, and it was launched.
She said there is a need for the Ministry to sensitize all stakeholders in Education about the new policy as well as how to go about implementing it in the state.
She explained that Early Childhood Care Development has to do with the education of the young ages from 0 to 8 years of age, adding that it is foundational age as well as the formative age.
She maintained that the training will be replicated in all educational zones, as well as all the 33 local governments in the state.
The two facilitators include Prof.H.O.Ajayi and Dr. Mrs O.O. Adeosun.
Some of the stakeholders involved in early childhood education include: 33 Local Inspectors of Education (LIEs), Association of School Owners, NAPPS, AMIS,
SUBEB, Rep. of Muslim Community, CAN, and a host of others.
