FAGBEMI Bags ‘NEWSMAKER’ Of The Year Award at UNESCO WORLD RADIO DAY Event In Ibadan

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in conjunction with the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Oyo State Chapter has today decorated the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Mogaji Akin Fagbemi Ph.D as ‘The Newsmaker of the Year’ at the 2022 UNESCO World Radio Day Lecture and Awards.

The event, which was a gathering of hundreds of “thoughtful iconoclastic doers” from the mass media, governments, legal profession, diplomatic mission and the academics focused on one of the most important national challenge facing Nigeria of our time which was carefully captured in the theme “Mass Media and True Federalism: The Efficacy of 1999 Constitution”.

Presenting the award on behalf of UNESCO & FIBAN, The Federal Representative, Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Value, Hon. Segun Odebunmi (Bunvic) described Dr. Fagbemi as most deserving of the award. He narrated the significant achievements of the OYRTMA Boss both as a private individual, a civil servant and a politician.

In his words, Hon. Bonvic said, “Mogaji Akin Fagbemi is a well-known brother and friend of mine. Our relationship extend beyond politics or government. I can attest that truly he is an achiever and a leader per excellence whose scientific approach to issues has helped to significantly restore sanity to our roads in Oyo State. He is most deserving of this prestigious award of honour and recognition”, he said.

In his reaction, Dr. Fagbemi who spoke through his representative at the program thanked the organizers and dedicated the award to God Almighty and the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his leadership and support over the years.

While the event was chaired by renowned legal luminary Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, guest lecturers included the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Chief Yomi Aliu SAN, Dr. Festus Adedayo among others.
