Oyo PDP Celebrates Makinde Over Silverbird, Vanguard Awards, ‘Aare Atayese’ Title, Commends LAUTECH Students

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo state chapter on Monday said Governor Seyi Makinde has become a monumental success within the political landscape in the state and nation with the double awards bagged as well as a chieftaincy title alongside his wife.

The ruling party in Oyo state in a press statement on Monday morning by its Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji described Makinde as a friend of the masses whose success story in governance has made him a household name in the Nigerian political space.

Governor Seyi Makinde who recently bagged Silverbird Television Governor of the year also bagged Vanguard Governor of the year award on Saturday.

Over the weekend, the Governor and his wife, Mrs, Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde were bestowed chieftaincy titles of Aare and Yeye Atayese respectively in recognition of delivering dividends of democracy to the people of the state. The title, which literally translates ‘the provider of better life’ indicates that the people of the state now enjoy improved quality of life and standard of living in abundance under the present administration.

The ruling party described the awards and chieftaincy titles as well deserved saying it will spur the number one citizen in the state to do more even in his second term of office when reelected.

According to Olatunji, the awards were part of the numerous recognitions by various firms, bodies, institutions both locally and internationally as a result of the good governance and sector by sector achievements in Oyo state under the Makinde led administration.

The ruling party stated that even though complex and and sometimes tough, Governor Makinde has made governing the pacesetter’ state seem seamlessly with his purposeful leadership approach making it possible to record the unprecedented feats in less than four years in office.

Describing Governor Makinde as the Biblical Moses who led the Israelites out of Egypt (land of slavery) to Canaan land (land of freedom and abundance), the party maintained that were it not for the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the masses as well as development of the state, things would have been terribly worse by now.

“The Silverbird and Vanguard awards as Governor of the year given to Engr. Seyi Makinde as well as the new chieftaincy titles bestowed on the Governor and his wife are attestation and confirmation of the good works we’re witnessing since inception of the present administration since 2019.

“It is worthy of note that because of the giant strides of Governor Makinde, Ibadan was also recently ranked second behind Accra, Ghana even ahead of Lagos state as the fastest developing city in Africa. This singular international recognition has attracted global investors who are seriously trying to key into the state’s developmental agenda thereby putting Oyo state on global map.

“Indeed, like an answer to a special prayer by people loved by God, Seyi Makinde has continued to justify that he’s truly the God sent man when the last administration plunged the state into coma for eight interrupted years and ruled like a drunken and power intoxicated emperor.

“We as the ruling party in the state celebrate Governor Seyi Makinde even as he continues to silence his detractors with more and more records of achievements. The noise and destructions by our detractors are better ignored as that of spectators who have no knowledge of the real job even as we march triumphantly into another term of four years with God and the good people of Oyo state on our side.” Oyo PDP stated.

Meanwhile, the ruling PDP in the state has also commended the courage of students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso for their show of open support for the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“We take this gesture by the students of LAUTECH as gratifying and rewarding. To us, we feel it is a reciprocation for what the Governor has done and still doing for the institution in the education sector which was total acquisition of the institution as a last minute rescue from its total collapse which the previous joint ownership arrangement between Oyo and Osun states had caused it.

“It is worthy of note that even while the institution in solidarity joined ASUU in the last protracted industrial action shortly after it became sole property of Oyo state, Governor Seyi Makinde continued to pay lecturers of the institution their salaries as an when due not minding the academic implications.

“The commendable action of the students are well noted and it is a motivation to the Governor and the present government to seek to do more for the institution to take it to a more glorious height. To all the students who have refused to be manipulated by dissenting voices of opposition, we salute you, we salute your courage. It is for your gallantry in the face of financial temptations and inducements that our hope for a more glorious future is renewed. We will not let you and LAUTECH down.” The ruling PDP added.
