Ilero Day: Continue to cooperate with Makinde for more development— Bayo Lawal

Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo state, has urged the people of Oke-ogun to continue working with the current administration of Governor Seyi Makinde for more developmental projects.

The current government, according to Lawal, is a government of the people because it has implemented numerous infrastructural developments in the state that affect every area of Oke ogun.

Lawal delivered the keynote address on Saturday during the fourth celebration of Ilero Day at First ADS Basic School, Gbelekale, Ilero.

In order to assure the quick growth of Oke-Ogun, he insisted that the government had also started work on Alaga road even before the request of Okere of Shaki, guaranteeing that the road would be fixed soon.

The deputy governor, who was accompanied by top government officials to the event, stated that he noticed Oyo state is fortunate with the manner people are spending money and celebrating when he was seated.

He said: “I was also moved when I saw that someone raised N10 million for the town’s development, and I want to express my gratitude to Iyaloja of Osohodi for her outstanding donation too.

“I am here as one of your sons and on behalf of His Excellency Seyi Makinde, who is outside the country, but I can tell you that the governor will receive your message requesting his support.

“Like I said, the governor has consistently worked to make this government a government of the people. I don’t want to campaign because we all know that this program is about launching, but another term in office would be a reward for the government’s hard work.

“The civil servants are consistently paid on the 25th of each month, which has prompted them to develop thorough plans for how to better organize their life. We must not take that for granted since without timely payment, planning would not have been possible unlike previous administration.”

Lawal urged all members of the government to work together in the same way that the government is already operating and to build things up from the bottom.

He asserted, “We have always been concerned about the needs of our people. You may also see that we recently presented a budget, and I can tell you that the budget’s results will address the needs of the Oke ogun in development.

“I can guarantee you that everything in the budget will be handled, especially the project involving Oke-Ogun, with the help of God.

As a result, he stated, “I once again extend my greetings to all of the Ilero sons and I pray that the town will continue to see unparalleled growth.

Senator Gbenga Babalola, Special Adviser on Legislative Matters Hon. Adejumobi Agbarapo, Chairman of RUWASSA Alhaji Najim Omirinde, Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Abdul Azeez, Makinde’s ardent supporter Hon. A.Y, and a host of others were in attendance at the event.

Others included the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, Dr Okunlola, local government chairmen, Royal fathers, candidates from several political parties, prominent Oke-Ogun stakeholders, and a large number of others.
