Sham: Campaign of calumny can’t stop GSM re-election – Olawale Aremu
The good people of Oyo State whom Governor Seyi Makinde is representing as a servant-leader have barked and roared back at the opposition in the state to desist from antagonising his government, amplifying that, GSM as fondly called, has been meticulously following the ideas espoused in his scheme and undertaking to people on accelerated development of the state.
A member of the GSM ADVOCATES, Comrade Olawale Aremu, during exploratory research conducted in some sections of the pacesetter’s state, discovered that a campaign of calumny against the incumbent governor is nothing but a ruse and sham to sway the unsuspecting indigenes and residents about the sterling performance of Makinde’s administration.
It is worrisome how the oppositions have retorted to the issue of WAEC and Iseyin road which the WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL promptly responded to the false and malicious publications ditto for the hyperbolised flood incident on Iseyin road. It is noteworthy to say that GSM’s administration has been carefully planning to deliver to the people of the state, projects that would outlast his administration and everything is a work in progress.
In the reaction of “Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, warned those he called purveyors of a campaign of calumny to desist from their evil plots against the education family, declaring that the campaign will fail; Daily Independent News, August 26, 2022”.
“As the present administration in Oyo state marks its third year in office, Governor Seyi Makinde has disclosed that his government has constructed 56 Model Schools and completed the renovation of 200 Primary Health Care Centres in its drive to ensure the existence of at least one functional PHC in each of the 351 Electoral Wards of the state. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicates that the governor stated this in a state broadcast in commemoration of the administration’s third year in office” to the good people of Oyo State, this is to tell you that GSM has not derailed in his electioneering promises while there is always a room for improvement.
GSM’s administration gains already recorded in the last three years include the construction of several roads that have impacted positively on the economy of the state through the creation of a thriving environment for private sector players in the state’s agribusiness sector. His government would now move on to fix inner and feeder roads so that inner-city travels could become stress-free for residents, having been executing road projects that improved access and connectivity between the zones in the state. Some of these projects, included the 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road, the 76.7km Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin Road, the 34.85km Oyo-Iseyin Road and the proposed reconstruction of the 48 km Ido-Eruwa Road.
Makinde’s administration completed the first phase of the remodeling of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, and the income generated by the facility has doubled, while it is projected to attract a 300 percent increase in revenue when completed. The commissioning of the Ojoo and Challenge Bus Terminals, which have already been handling up to 10,000 passengers daily off-peak, is another achievement of the administration.
“The State’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, while giving the scorecard of his principal, said Makinde has done massive infrastructural projects across the three senatorial districts in the last three and half years. Olatubosun, who stated this at the inauguration of Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) Market and Artisans Marine, at Saki Town Hall, Saki, noted that the present administration has been transparent and accountable to the people”.
He also reiterated Makinde’s determination to do more for the zone, if re-elected in 2023. Olatubosun enjoined the people of Saki-East, Saki-West, and Atisbo to disregard falsehood by the opposition, as Makinde has fulfilled his campaign promises to Oke-Ogun residents. During the engagement with traders and artisans in Saki-East, Saki-West, and Atisbo Local Councils, Olatubosun said the governor’s foray into politics was for service delivery and not for personal gain or deception. According to him: “Makinde will consolidate on his administration’s achievements in the last three-and-half years, if re-elected. The free education policy of the present administration has been a huge achievement of Makinde’s administration_The Guardian News, August 28, 2022.
To this end, the true mark of a leader is the willingness to stick with a bold course of action—an unconventional business strategy, a unique product-development roadmap, a controversial marketing campaign—even as the rest of the world wonders why you’re not marching in step with the status quo. In other words, real leaders are happy to zig while others zag. They understand that in an era of hyper-competition and non-stop disruption, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to stand for something special.”-Bill Taylor. GSM has maintained uncompromisingly the accelerated roadmap for development in Oyo State as a true leader and administrator of the state. Let’s vote massively for the return of GSM to complete his infrastructural facelift in the state.
