Dare Adeleke Accuses Arapaja of Betraying Makinde, Spreading Falsehoods
…As he questions allegations against political figures, challenges claims concerning JAC allocations.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dare Adeleke, has accused former Oyo State Deputy Governor Taofeek Arapaja of betraying Governor Seyi Makinde and allegedly spreading falsehoods against political opponents.
Adeleke made the allegations in a statement in which he criticised Arapaja over his alleged political realignment and recent accusations against some political figures in Oyo State.
He claimed that Makinde had helped Arapaja regain political relevance and prominence, alleging that the former deputy governor was now turning against the governor despite the support he had received from him.
Adeleke also accused Arapaja of engaging in what he described as a campaign of calumny against the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi.
The PDP chieftain questioned the basis of Arapaja’s alleged accusations of financial misconduct, arguing that the individuals being accused did not have access to the funds in question.
He further questioned Arapaja’s understanding of the allocation of Joint Account Committee (JAC) funds, asking whether a commissioner for finance had any direct responsibility for such allocations.
Adeleke also faulted Arapaja’s references to the administration of the late former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), questioning the former deputy governor’s authority to speak on behalf of the Ajimobi family.
He alleged that Arapaja had a history of strained political relationships, claiming that his past conduct had contributed to the distrust he faced among some political associates.
The statement also referenced Senator Sarafadeen Alli’s reported intention to seek legal redress over the allegations, although the specific claims and circumstances surrounding the proposed legal action were not independently established in the statement.
Adeleke urged Arapaja to desist from making what he described as unfounded allegations, insisting that political disagreements should not be used to damage the reputations of individuals.
