Ona-Ara LG Boss Explains Efforts In Curbing Crime Via LLVG Initiatives

The chairman of Ona-Ara Local government, Hon. Musbaudeen Adesina Sanusi has explained how the establishment of Landlord Landladies Vigilante Group (LLVG), a scheme similar to community policing, has helped in stemming down the wave of crimes in the council area.

The LG boss disclosed this while addressing the team of Oyo State Freelance and Independent Broadcasters of Nigeria (FIBAN) who has commenced the tour of local government in Oyo State to access and does sincere evaluation of the spate of development within the three years of Engr Seyi Makinde’s administration on the council areas in the state.

Hon. Sanusi said his council area has a good synergy between every stakeholder in the security sector which is responsible for good security architecture being enjoyed within the area, with the establishment of community policing style of arrangement.

“The first thing we did when we came into office three years ago was to organize a security summit which afforded us to rub minds with every stakeholder in the security sector. We’re the first Council area to introduce community policing, which we did with the knowledge of the former commissioner of Police and Special Assistant to Governor on security, Mr. Fatai Owoseni.

“We are also the one that initiated Landlord Landladies Vigilante Group (LLVG), and if you are not a landlord, you cannot join it; after which we ensured good synergy between them and all other local security groups within our community, such as: OPC, Agbekoya and Irorun Odua before other local governments beginning to copy it from us.

“I want to implore our State Governors, especially in the southwest to emulate this idea, because if such arrangement was in-place, probably it could have forestalled the dastardly act that happened in Owo, Ondo State, because those assailants didn’t just arrived that community overnight, they must have been hidden within that vicinity for a while and such security operatives must have discovered them and foiled their plans”, Ona-Ara council boss noted.

Among elders and executives of FIBAN led by the chairman of the body, Pastor Seun Awodele that are part of the inspectorate crew were Bashorun Gboyega Lawal, Mogaji Kola Olootu, Mogaji Kola Akintayo, Asiwaju Wale Lawal, Ogudugba Akano, the secretary of the association, Aisida Omolola, Ainloye Olumide, Ajiyemi Abiodun, Iyadunni Akintunde and Salaudeen Hameed.
