NAPS warns FG against ASUP’s Proposed Strike, Frowns at Insecurity on the Nation

The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has made her position known on the industrial action proposed by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) after an ultimatum was given to the Federal Government, humbly appeal to the FG to pay listening ears to the demands of the union as to salvage the academic gridlock that has hitherto held the curriculum backwards.

This was stated in a release signed by the National President of NAPS, Comr Kingsley Asiegbu Chinonso and made available to newsmen where the student union also frowned at the state of the security in the nation, particularly as it affects tertiary institutions and campuses.

“There have been incessant industrial actions across the education sector, hence they look like an order in the education system. An attention to this plea is a gross attempt at the salvation of our future! We have neither seen nor heard where a good father promises his children bread and gives them stone”.

The student’s body however warned that they may not hesitate to go on a “Shut down Abuja Peaceful Demonstration”, saying “a stitch in time saves nine”.

“A nation with insecurity is prone to immeasurable devastation. However, it is not without recognition that we celebrate your inputs thus far in governance and policy making that favours the masses, particularly the students.

Nevertheless, NAPS however urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to curb the disturbing spate of vices and security turbulence across the country, saying it hurts to keep seeing their fellow students abducted, maimed and killed.

“The Federal Government should rise to the task and do the needful as a matter of urgency”, the statement reads in part.
