NFF disengages entire Super Eagles tchnical crew

The Nigeria Football Federation has disengaged the entire technical crew of the Super Eagles, following their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

A statement released by the country’s football body said the “erstwhile Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from that position with immediate effect.”

Also, the NFF has withdrawn the two-and-half years contract offered the coaches.

“A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately,” the statement read.

“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Nigeria failed to advance to the World Cup finals after playing a 1-1 draw with Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday. The Super Eagles had needed a win after a goalless draw against the Black Stars in the first leg in Kumasi.

Under Eguavoen, the Super Eagles failed to advance beyond the last-16 stage at this year’s edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
