Ibadan Monarchs, Chiefs, Baales, Mogajis, hails Tinubu, security agencies over rescue of abducted pupils, teachers in Oriire

…commiserate with those who paid supreme prize

Traditional institution in Ibadanland including Monarchs, Baales, Mogajis, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes,(CCII), Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, (ICPI) and other prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies and other stakeholders over successful rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The stakeholders also commended the state government, Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Igboho, and other community actors who played roles in mounting pressure and providing intelligence that led to the release of the victims.

A statement signed by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, and the Coordinator of Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Dr. Nurudeen Akinade described the rescue as a welcome development that has restored hope to families and communities across the state.

The traditional stakeholders further sympathised with the families of slain teachers, Mr Michael Oyedokun, who was allegedly beheaded by the kidnappers, and Mr Adesiyan Adegboye, and others who were reportedly gunned down at the scene of the abduction, not leaving out the personnel of security agencies who equally lost their lifes, praying for the repose of their souls, urging government to support the bereaved families.

The duo said effort of President Tinubu towards the rescueing of the kidnapped victims cannot be overemphasized, noting that the President’s directive to security agencies demonstrated strong political will to tackle insecurity.

According to the duo, the rescue of the victims has again shown that government is committed to saving lives and property of Nigerians.

“This operation sends a clear message that there is no room for banditry and terrorism across the country, the feat should encourage more collaboration between federal, state and community security structures.”

The Ibadan traditional leaders however called on residents to remained vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely informationinformation to avert future occurrence of such incident.

The statement also urged the Oyo State Government to strengthened security around schools in rural areas and to provide counseling and support for the rescued pupils and teachers who went through trauma.

The stakeholders appealed to all stakeholders to sustained the momentum against kidnapping and other crimes, pledging their continued support for initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and safety in Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
