Old Oyo National Park: GOC Charges Troops to Remain Vigilant Against Security Threats

…He urges soldiers to maintain aggressive posture, defend communities

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has charged troops deployed around the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State to remain highly alert, vigilant and committed in the discharge of their duties.

Mahmuda gave the charge during an operational tour of troop locations along the Igbeti–Igboho–Sepetari Road in Olorunsogo Local Government Area, as well as the 169 Motorcycle Battalion Headquarters, Ikoyi-Ile, and the Abaja Response Area in Oriire Local Government Area.

The GOC urged the troops to maintain an aggressive posture in their respective Areas of Responsibility and work collectively to protect their communities.

He also directed them to remain disciplined and adhere strictly to the core values of the Nigerian Army, stressing that professionalism was essential to effective military operations.

“You must work as a team and defend your locality,” Mahmuda told the troops, while commending them for their efforts in securing their respective areas.

During the tour, the GOC received briefings on the security situation and operational activities from the Commanding Officer, 81 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Chiemezie Innocent Asogwa, and the Commanding Officer, 169 Motorcycle Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Waziri Gadzama Ayuba.

The Army said the visit formed part of the GOC’s broader operational assessment of formations and units, aimed at obtaining an on-the-spot assessment of troop deployments and the security situation within the general area.
