Ewenla Calls for Yoruba Unity, Strategic Collaboration Against Insecurity

A security expert and Akinjagunla to the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Prince Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, has called for greater unity among Yoruba leaders and security stakeholders in tackling terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal activities across the South-West.

He made the statement while speaking against the disparaging statement against one of Yoruba freedom fighters, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known “Sunday Igboho” by Fulani leaders and some Islamic leaders.

Ewenla urged Yoruba people to rally behind one another despite differences, stressing that Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, remains “a son of the soil” whose contributions to the fight against insecurity should not be dismissed.

While acknowledging that he has previously criticised some of Igboho’s actions, including what he described as excessive social media publicity and disrespect towards some Yoruba leaders, Ewenla condemned what he called persistent insults and attacks against the activist by some Fulani leaders and Islamic scholars.

The security expert advised Sunday Igboho to adopt greater operational secrecy, warning that publicising security preparations and operations could compromise intelligence and aid criminal elements.

He also urged the Yoruba nation agitator to strengthen collaboration with established security stakeholders, particularly the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, and other recognised indigenous security organisations, rather than pursuing security efforts independently.

Ewenla further appealed to bloggers and supporters of Sunday Igboho to refrain from insulting the Aare Ona Kakanfo, saying respect for traditional and community leaders is essential in building a united front against insecurity.

According to him, intelligence-driven operations, cooperation among security stakeholders, and community support remain the most effective strategies for combating terrorism and kidnapping.

He called on all Yoruba sons and daughters to set aside personal and political differences and work together to protect lives, property, and the security of Yorubaland.
