APM Lagos Gubernatorial Candidate, Adeoye Cannot Be Suspended by PDP, LACO Insists
…warns of legal action if correction is not madewithin 76 hour
The Laja Adeoye Campaign Organisation (LACO) has called for the immediate removal of the name of Mr. Adelaja Adeoye, the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), from a purported suspension list reportedly issued by individuals claiming to represent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement released and signed by its New Media Director, Ayodele Kazeem, LACO described the inclusion of Adeoye’s name on the list as misleading, inappropriate, and legally questionable, noting that the APM governorship candidate had voluntarily resigned from the PDP several months ago.
According to the organisation, Adeoye has since complied with all legal and electoral requirements regarding his political affiliation in line with the Electoral Act and other relevant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
LACO maintained that it is procedurally impossible for a political party to suspend an individual who is no longer a member, arguing that the action raises concerns about the credibility and understanding of due political processes by those responsible for the publication.
“The inclusion of Mr. Adelaja Adeoye’s name on the purported suspension list is both misleading and legally questionable. Having resigned from the PDP months ago, he is no longer subject to the party’s internal disciplinary procedures,” the statement said.
The campaign organisation therefore demanded the immediate removal of Adeoye’s name from the suspension list and all related publications, giving those responsible 76 hours to effect the correction.
LACO warned that failure to comply with the demand could result in legal action aimed at protecting the reputation and rights of its principal.
The organisation reiterated its commitment to issue-based politics, democratic values, and respect for the rule of law.
