Makinde Urges Unity Among Team Members, Says Oyo’s Progress Must Outlive 2027

Governor Seyi Makinde has called on members of his political team and extended family to remain united, stressing that sustained development in Oyo State must continue beyond the 2027 elections.

At a meeting held in Ibadan with key aides, lawmakers, and political allies, the governor said cohesion and discipline within the team were critical to delivering lasting impact for the people of the state.

“There must not be any division. We must watch out for one another so that the people of Oyo State can reap the benefits of this team,” Makinde told the gathering.

He noted that the progress recorded across infrastructure, education, health, and agriculture was the result of coordinated effort, and urged members to avoid actions that could undermine the administration’s goals.

According to those present, the meeting also served as a platform to review ongoing projects and align on strategies to consolidate gains before the end of the current tenure.

Among the attendees were Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, and Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi, alongside other senior political figures.

Makinde said his focus remained on building structures and policies that would outlast his administration, ensuring that the state’s development trajectory is not disrupted by political transitions.

He encouraged the team to prioritize service delivery, maintain open communication, and engage consistently with constituents to strengthen public trust.

“Beyond 2027, Oyo must be in a stronger position than we met it. That can only happen if we stay united and keep working for the people,” he added.

The governor’s remarks come as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the next election cycle, with stakeholders positioning for various roles across the state.
