Amid rising political tension in Oyo State, Sola Ladoja has clarified that the recent visit of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, to his father was political but not linked to any impeachment plot or financial inducement.

Sola Ladoja, who is the son of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, made the clarification following widespread reactions to his earlier comments, which some had interpreted as evidence of a broader political conspiracy.

This was In a statement addressing the controversy, he explained that his earlier reference to “receipts” had been misunderstood, noting that he was referring to conversations rather than financial transactions.

He added that although the meeting had a political undertone, it did not involve any discussion about impeachment, monetary inducement, or coordination with opposition elements.

According to him, there was no agenda involving the opposition party, no exchange of money, and no plan to remove the governor from office.

Sola Ladoja also disclosed that he facilitated the meeting after being approached by the Speaker, while cautioning against misinterpretations capable of escalating the already tense political atmosphere in the state.

The clarification comes amid ongoing speculation over alleged moves to destabilise the administration of Seyi Makinde, claims which have been repeatedly denied by key stakeholders.

Earlier, a lawmaker representing Egbeda State Constituency, Sunkanmi Babalola, dismissed reports linking him and others to secret meetings aimed at impeaching the governor.

He described the allegations as baseless and the handiwork of mischief-makers, while also rejecting claims of financial inducement running into hundreds of millions of naira.

Babalola maintained that lawmakers remain committed to the mandate given to Seyi Makinde by the people.

Observers say the latest clarification may help ease growing tensions, even as political consultations continue among key actors in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, has yet to officially respond to the claims.
