Oyo Police Assure Peaceful Easter, Intensify Surveillance

The Oyo State Police Command has assured residents of robust security arrangements ahead of the Easter celebrations, pledging a peaceful and incident-free festivity across the state.
This was in a statement issued on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of Oyo State Police command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka amidst Easter Celebration, the Command disclosed that it has deployed comprehensive, intelligence-driven security measures in line with the policing vision of the Nigeria Police Force leadership to enhance public safety and boost citizens’ confidence.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, congratulated Christians on the occasion of Easter, urging them to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence.
He also encouraged residents to use the period to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of both the state and the country.
Olugbenga reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.
According to him, the police are collaborating with other security agencies to ensure adequate coverage at key locations such as worship centres, recreational venues, major highways, and other public spaces.
The commissioner emphasized the importance of community participation in effective policing, calling on residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
He noted that prompt intelligence sharing remains critical to successful policing operations.
The Commissioner further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency channels.
He also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, for his leadership and continued support, which he said have strengthened operational efficiency within the Command.
The Command wished all Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
