Oyo Police Discover Lifeless Body of Unidentified Woman in Egbeda

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of the lifeless body of an unidentified woman in the Egbeda area of Ibadan, calling on the public to assist in identifying the deceased.

This was disclosed by the State Police Publicity Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka to the Journalist today, according to the police, was reported on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Egbeda Divisional Police Headquarters by a good Samaritan.

The informant reportedly stated that upon arriving at his car wash stand located around Ile Marun, Iwo Road, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, he discovered the body of a woman lying in a nearby drainage channel.

Following the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the Egbeda Division swiftly moved to the scene.

Preliminary findings revealed that the woman’s body was found in the drainage with visible marks of violence around the head, raising suspicion of possible foul play.

The police subsequently documented the scene, after which the corpse was evacuated and deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital Mortuary, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy.

The Command disclosed that investigations have commenced to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding her death.

It also appealed to members of the public, especially those with missing female relatives, to report to the Egbeda Divisional Police Headquarters or the nearest police station to aid identification.

Police assured residents that efforts are ongoing to unravel the incident and bring perpetrators to justice, urging the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support security agencies.
