The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has reaffirmed the determination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reclaim Oyo State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027, calling on party members to unite at all levels ahead of the next governorship election.

Adelabu, who is a 2019 governorship candidate under the APC, made the call while empowering youths, women, and party leaders across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State with a ₦100 million economic relief fund through his Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF).

The Minister described the PDP as “a tenant” in Agodi Government House, declaring that the progressives remain the rightful “landlords” of Oyo State.

“Oyo belongs to the progressives. We are the landlords, and we are going back to Agodi Government House in 2027,” Adelabu stated.

He emphasized the need for unity within the APC structure, urging members to strengthen the party from the ward to the state level to ensure victory in 2027.

“We must work together, stay united, and remain committed to the ideals of our party. Only through unity can we take back Oyo State and deliver good governance to our people,” he added.

Adelabu assured APC members and residents of Oyo State of his readiness to serve and deliver transformative leadership, promising more empowerment programs in the build-up to the next general elections.

Delivering a lecture at the event, Dr. Stephen Lafenwa of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, said that any political party that invests in the welfare of its youths, women, and leaders stands a greater chance of earning public trust and electoral victory.

“No party can win the hearts of the people without empowering its members. The APC in Oyo State is setting a good example by prioritizing the welfare of its grassroots members,” Lafenwa said, urging beneficiaries to use the empowerment funds responsibly.

Representing the Oyo APC Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, the party’s Secretary, commended Adelabu for his continued commitment to the growth and unity of the party.

“Chief Adelabu has brought renewed energy into Oyo APC. Through his efforts, the entire state now knows that our party is back on its feet,” Olanite remarked.

The ₦100 million empowerment initiative, facilitated through the Bayo Adelabu Foundation, benefited APC members across all 33 local governments of Oyo State, reinforcing the party’s grassroots strength ahead of the 2027 polls.
