Dalung Predicts Implosion Within APC Over Power Struggles

Former Minister of Youth and Sports and ex-Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Solomon Dalung, has predicted an intensifying internal crisis within the ruling party, warning that it could surpass the challenges faced by any other political party in the country.
Dalung made this assertion during an exclusive interview with National Daily News Publisher, Ogundele Olanrewaju, during his recent visit to Ibadan.
Speaking on the state of the APC, Dalung described the party as heading toward internal turmoil following controversial leadership changes and political realignments.
He referenced the recent ousting of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and ongoing talks to bring Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), into the APC fold.
According to Dalung, these developments are not just political strategies but calculated moves to secure and preserve the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“What is happening in the APC today is a clear sign of instability. By removing Ganduje and planning to bring in Kwankwaso, they are setting the stage for more conflicts. Everyone’s ambitions within a one-party system will inevitably clash,” he said.
Dalung warned that the ruling party is already facing fragmentation, citing instances where state governors have defected to the APC while their supporters remain in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), leading to disconnection between leadership and grassroots support.
He stated that in the event of a major fallout within the APC, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is prepared to capitalize on the situation by providing a stable alternative.
“ADC is standing by and watching. When the APC finally implodes, we are ready to harvest, organize, and reposition Nigeria with a unified vision,” he declared.
Dalung noted that the ADC has already taken proactive steps toward building a strong coalition, with a focus on national development over personal ambition.
“Before agreeing to any coalition, ADC addressed the issue of candidacy. The priority is solving Nigeria’s problems—not promoting individual interests,” he said.
He emphasized that the party’s long-term goal is to offer a credible platform that can restore national integrity and rebuild public trust, should both APC and PDP continue to lose popular support.
