Makinde Presents Instrument of Office to 46th New Alaafin

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has presented an instrument of office to the 46th Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade.

The presentation was made today by the executive Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde, at the Executive chamber, Governor’s office, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, expressed the importance of the Alaafin stool to the entire Yoruba race, reiterating that under his watch, the Alaafin stool will not be sold to the highest bidder.

He warned the king-makers who are still bent on destabilizing the traditional institutions of Oyo kingdom that the present government would prosecute those who have collected money in the process of installing the new Alaafin.

Makinde, however, assured that the coronation of the new Alaafin of Oyo would take place in four weeks’ time.

In his remarks, the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, promised to work towards unity with all the aggrieved princes and ensure the unity of the Oyo kingdom.

Recall that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was confirmed dead on April 22, 2022. Dignitaries attended the presentation of staff, including The Awise Awo-Agbaye, Professor Wande Abimbola, and the king-makers in Oyo kingdom.
