The Wife Of Oyo state Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde has celebrated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day with children with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and empowerment.

The event, themed “Celebrating Our Diversity, Empowering Our Future,” brought together children from various homes, caregivers, and government officials.

In her address, The Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni representing wife of Oyo state Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde hailed the nation’s diversity as a unique strength.

“Our diversity is not just a feature of our nation; it is one of those things that make us unique, capable, and full of potential.”

She acknowledged the tireless efforts of parents and caregivers, describing them as “true heroes.”

To the children, Mrs Makinde emphasized: “You are strong and loved. Keep dreaming big, believing in yourselves, and know that you are capable of achieving anything.”

She encouraged all the citizens of the state to support one another and build inclusive communities where differences are celebrated.

As part of the celebration, Mrs Makinde donated toiletries, food items, and cash gifts to the homes.

Her Excellency, Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also donated clothing items and toys through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Mrs Makinde stressed the need for inclusivity, saying, “Together, we can create a Nigeria that celebrates inclusion, embraces differences, and ensures a bright future for all.”
