“Nigeria, Not Yet Free” Says Jaja Money on Independence at 64

Oluwatobi Kongi, popularly known as Jaja Money, in the American music industry has lamented the state of Nigerian economy and system of leadership at independence of 64 years without landmark achievement as regards human capital.

This was disclosed during an interactive session via online that the cultural activist and musician of Ibadan background revealed that “Nigeria is not yet free from the shackles of colonial exploitation, dehumanization and domination.”

“We are still slaves to these white people by following their system on the blackman soil. It is not possible, this is the time that we need to redefine our existence by ourselves”.

He equally added that ” Nigeria, as the largest Black nation in the world and with one of the richest lands on earth, is struggling to cater for just 200 million people ?.

“Is it not pathic ? We keep on to be patriotic in nature but we are really lamenting the state of things at home. The rate at which people depend on their family and friends in diaspora is highly alarming”.

“Looking at the economic structure of the country, how can we expect prosperity? We have crude oil, and we are buying, bargaining for petroleum from countries, companies and individuals. It is all seems to be loke a joke.

” This independence period is a time to reflect on the need to change our narrative as leaders and followers as a need to move the narion forward”.
