Super Falcons Escape Disaster After Being Trapped in Elevator in France

The Nigerian women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, had a terrifying experience in Bordeaux, France, where they are preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics, according to Soccernet. Some members of the team, including Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu, Tochukwu Oluehi, and a few others, got stuck in an elevator at their hotel.

The incident occurred on Thursday, shortly after the team arrived in Bordeaux from a training camp in Seville, Spain. The players were on their way to their rooms when the elevator suddenly stopped, trapping them inside.

According to eyewitnesses, the players remained calm and composed, despite the frightening situation. One of the players, Uchenna Kanu, took to social media to share a video of the incident, captioning it “If I survive this”.

After a few minutes, the elevator door was pried open, and the players were able to escape without harm.

The team’s coach, Randy Waldrum, was relieved that no one was injured and praised the players for their calm reaction.

The Super Falcons are set to start their Olympic campaign against Brazil on July 25.

Despite the minor setback, the team is determined to make a good impression at the Olympics, having not participated in the tournament for 16 years.
