Re: 70 Percent Of Re-Election Votes: CAN Commends Christian Community, Preaches Peace And Equity

Aftermath the reaction that trailed the recent comment by the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde at the commissioning of Adogba mosque last Thursday, the Chairman, Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State, Apostle Col. Joshua has thanked members of the Christian community in Oyo state for their peaceful reactions.

In a statement issued on Saturday and made available to journalists, Apostle Akinyemiju said it important to appreciate the entire body of Christ for taking the disdainful expressions with philosophical calmness.

“Now that the controversy of the over 70% of votes has been laid to rest, it is expedient to appreciate the entire body of Christ for taking the disdainful expressions with philosophical calmness. One must commend the body for rising up against what does not glorify God in a manner that shows that their love for decorum is not out of fear.

Even though no one has monopoly of aggression but Christians always love to follow peace with all men.”

The number one Christian in Oyo state emphasised for equity, justice and fairness across the state, adding that the state belongs to all.

“Our firm believe is that Oyo State belongs to all of us and so no side should be denigrated to the satisfaction of the other. In other words, the Eagle and the Hawk should be allowed to perch on the same tree.

Any attempt to insult or embarrass the sensibilities of the other in order to pacify or please anyone or group would not justify the peace we crave for. Government is for all, to that extent, the principles of justice, equity and fairness must always speak in the overall interest of peace.”

He said even though the task of state is challenging but when the mentioned principles are adopted and seen to be adopted, there will be peace and tranquility.

“May the Lord direct our political leaders aright,” he concluded.
