Omititun Free Health Mission: Oyo Govt Begins 2nd Quarter in Oko, includes Physiotherapy
…targets more than 400,000 beneficiaries
Oyo State Government has disclosed that over 400,000 residents of the state would benefit from the second quarter of Omituntun Free Health Mission of governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.
This disclosure was made on Monday by the State Coordinator, Omituntun Free Health Mission project, Dr. Wale Falana during the flag off of the project, held at State Hospital, Oko, Ogo Oluwa Local Government of Oyo state.
Falana said that people of Oko came out enmasse to benefit in the free health project which covered medical challenges like cataract removal, caesarian section, physiotherapy, dental care and communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Falana explained that the free healthcare treatment included eye treatment such as the surgical removal of cataract and other sight diseases possible, while free eyeglasses were distributed to the people free of charge.
He said: “We thank God, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and Commissioner for Health, Dr Bode Ladipo for giving us this opportunity.
“This will be the third time that it will be in Oko and we are starting this quarter from here.
“We are happy that people accepted this project, we have been attending to a number of patients and people are coming and increasing every moment, this one is very massive.
“This indicates that residents love what governor Makinde is doing in the health sector. Now, we have added physiotherapy to all we have been doing.
“We have done a lot of surgery for both Adults and Children, those that need glasses have been provided.
“Those that need surgery for cataract will be done tomorrow, and medical communicable and non-communicable diseases have been attending to.
“Those that need hypertensive and diabetes drugs have been provided as well.
“For today, we have seen more numbers than we have been having before. The patients we are targeting is between 350,000 and 400,000.
“I will advise our people to take good care of their health and also key into Oyo state Health Insurance Scheme.:
Dr. Falana appreciated the State governor, Seyi Makinde, Commissioner for Health, Dr Bode Ladipo as well as the permanent secretary, Dr.Olusoji Alaruru Adeyanju for their support in ensuring the success of the free healthcare mission.
He called on the people to take advantage of the health mission to know their states of health and get free treatment from the programme in order to remain healthy
The Omituntun Free Health Mission team, which comprises Medical Practitioners from the State Health Agencies and supporting Organizations and Non-governmental Organizations, will continue to tour all the parts of the State from Oko, Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun, Ibarapa to Ibadan township.
Falana, assured the people that the present administration has provided the needed support for the program to cater for people’s various health challenges.
In their various remarks, the beneficiaries , commended Governor Seyi Makinde for giving them the opportunity to check their health status and treat their ailments free of charge.
Beneficiaries of the program who were subjected to various health scrutiny received necessary medical attention.
The program continues as follows: Ogbomosho, Igbeti, kishi, Saki, Ago Are, lseyin, Okeho, Ayete, Eruwa, Oyo, Ilora and lbadan respectfully.
