Alli Group Accuses Makinde of Mismanaging Increased Oyo Revenue

…As Campaign organisation says higher Federation Account receipts should translate into better living conditions for residents

The Sen. Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation has accused Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, of failing to adequately address hunger and other economic challenges confronting residents of the state.

The organisation described Makinde as “clueless” and an “embarrassment” to Oyo State, arguing that his recent admission that the state had received increased allocations from the Federation Account but had yet to significantly reduce hunger amounted to an indictment of his administration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, the organisation said Makinde’s acknowledgement of increased federal allocations to Oyo State was evidence, in its view, of the impact of the economic reform policies of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Makinde had, while speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, acknowledged that Oyo State had been receiving increased funds from the Federation Account but said the additional revenue had not translated into a sufficient reduction in hunger in the state.

Reacting, the campaign organisation questioned why the governor would acknowledge increased monthly revenue without taking responsibility for its utilisation, asking whether the Federal Government should also be expected to determine how the funds are spent by the state government.

The organisation also criticised Makinde over local government administration in Oyo State, alleging that the governor had opposed local government autonomy in order to retain control over state and council funds.

It therefore called on the people of Oyo State to reject what it described as an attempt to extend Makinde’s administration beyond 2027.
