Oyo State Govt Announces Independence Walk To Mark Nigeria At 66
As part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the Oyo State Government has announced a special Independence Walk.
The walk has been scheduled to hold on Monday, 28th September, 2026, by 8:00 am prompt.
According to information made available to newsmen, the walk will kickstart from the Government Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan and will terminate at the Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The Independence Walk is one of the key activities lined up by the state government to mark the Independence celebration and to promote unity, patriotism, love for country, and healthy living among the people of the state.
The event is expected to witness a large turnout of participants including top government functionaries, members of the State Executive Council, House of Assembly members, political leaders, youth organizations, artisans, market leaders, students, civil servants, members of the organized private sector, and members of the general public.
Participants are expected to showcase the spirit of the celebration, while security agencies and medical teams will be on ground to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
Residents of Ibadan and environs are enjoined to come out en masse to be part of the symbolic walk that celebrates Nigeria’s journey, resilience and collective hope for a brighter future.
