2027: Olubadan Charges Politicians to Debate Issues, Avoid Personal Attacks

…Oba Ladoja says poverty, education, healthcare and land use should dominate campaign debates

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has urged politicians contesting the 2027 elections to focus on issues affecting the masses rather than engaging in insults and personal attacks.

Oba Ladoja made the call on Monday while receiving members of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by its Chairman, Professor Ramoni Akinoso, and the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Gbolarumi Azeem, at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

The Olubadan said politicians should engage in robust discussions on issues such as poverty alleviation, education, healthcare and land use, which he said directly affect the welfare of voters.

He described all gubernatorial candidates in the 2027 election as members of his household, urging them to eschew bitterness and abusive language and allow voters to make informed choices based on their programmes and policies.

Oba Ladoja also congratulated all candidates contesting the 2027 elections on the PDP platform and urged them to remember the masses and their supporters if they emerge victorious.

Earlier, the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Gbolarumi Azeem, commended the Olubadan for his leadership and presented the party’s candidates for royal blessing.

Azeem recalled that Oba Ladoja contested and won the 2003 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the PDP, saying the party would continue to seek his royal blessing and guidance.
