Wike’s Coalition Won’t Save PDP, It Will Destroy It — Ewenla

…As Southwest Ex-officio backs Turaki, accuses coalition of serving APC interests

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Southwest Ex-officio, Dr. Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, has described the political coalition allegedly associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a threat to the survival and integrity of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ewenla, in a statement, said his position was not motivated by personal hatred or political bitterness but by his commitment to the unity and future of the PDP.

He questioned the involvement of a former PDP leader in a political arrangement which, according to him, appears to advance the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The PDP Southwest Ex-officio reaffirmed his support for Senator Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, whom he described as the leader of the original and authentic PDP, subject to the final determination of the courts and the party’s constitutional processes.

Ewenla urged genuine PDP members, leaders, candidates and supporters to carefully examine the political allegiance of individuals seeking to lead or represent the party, particularly those recognising what he described as Wike’s faction as the authentic leadership of the PDP.

He maintained that any reconciliation within the PDP must be based on sincerity, accountability and genuine commitment to opposition politics, rather than political opportunism.

Ewenla called on PDP members to remain vigilant and defend the party’s identity and structures, insisting that the party belongs to its genuine members and must remain focused on providing Nigerians with a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
