BAOBAB TREE: GSM, The Deep Root, Many Branches And One Tree By Moyosoreoluwa Olamilekan Eldreez, Member GSM Advocate

There is a popular African proverb that says, “A mighty tree does not grow overnight.” The baobab tree, one of Africa’s most enduring symbols, stands tall because its roots run deep, its trunk is strong, and its branches provide shelter, hope, and life to many.

Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (GSM), FNSE, DSC. GSSRS represents such a baobab tree in Oyo State politics.

His leadership has been defined not only by infrastructure and governance but by his deliberate investment in people. Like the baobab, whose branches spread in every direction, GSM has nurtured leaders across sectors politics, governance, business, youth development, Agriculture, transportation, education, health, and public service.

The strength of a baobab is not measured by its height alone but by the lives it sustains. Similarly, Governor Makinde’s administration has produced capable public servants, empowered young professionals, strengthened institutions, and created opportunities that continue to bear fruit beyond his immediate government.

From road infrastructure and improved security to Agribusiness revolution, educational reforms, healthcare expansion, and economic development, GSM has laid deep roots that will continue to support Oyo State for generations.

His philosophy of governance has been one of inclusion, competence, transparency, and continuity. Many of those who have served under him today represent strong branches extending the vision of sustainable development across the state.

Just as no one can separate the baobab from its roots, the progress witnessed in Oyo State is deeply connected to the visionary leadership and strategic planning of Governor Seyi Makinde.

As history continues to unfold, the GSM legacy will not merely be remembered for projects commissioned but for the institutions strengthened, the people empowered, and the future leaders raised.

Indeed, GSM is the Baobab Tree deeply rooted, firmly grounded, and blessed with many branches that continue to provide shade, strength, and Hope for Oyo State and beyond.
