APU Recognises Akomolede’s Legacy of Development in Are Ekiti
…As Community leader commended for road projects, solar street lights, specialist hospital and peace initiatives
The Are Progressive Union (APU) has honoured one of its illustrious sons, the Aare Akorewolu of Are Ekiti Kingdom, Surv. Idowu Akomolede, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and transformation of the Are Ekiti community.
The recognition, marked by the presentation of a commemorative roll-up banner, took place at a colourful ceremony attended by members of the Union and other prominent indigenes.
Presenting the honour, the President of the Are Progressive Union, Prof. Olufemi Oke, described Surv. Akomolede as a committed community builder whose selfless service has positively impacted the growth of Are Ekiti.
He said the recipient has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership by promoting peace, resolving disputes, and fostering unity among members of the community.
Prof. Oke highlighted several developmental projects credited to Surv. Akomolede, including the grading of roads across the town, construction of new access roads, installation of more than 100 solar-powered street lights, establishment of the community’s first filling station, construction of hotels to promote hospitality and tourism, and the development of a specialist hospital to improve healthcare services.
He noted that the projects have significantly enhanced infrastructure, security, healthcare delivery, and the overall socio-economic development of the community.
Responding to the honour, Surv. Akomolede expressed gratitude to the Are Progressive Union for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to do more for his hometown.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the continued development of Are Ekiti, pledging to keep supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development while investing his resources in projects that will improve the welfare of the people.
The event featured members of the APU executive and other stakeholders, who commended the recipient for his dedication to community service and his enduring commitment to the progress of Are Ekiti.
