Family of Slain Oriire Abductee Appeals for Government Support, Seeks Release of Remains

…Seeks job for widow, free education for deceased’s children

The family of Mr. John Olaleye, one of the victims killed during the abduction of pupils and teachers from Ahoro-Ehnsiele Community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to the Federal and Oyo State governments to provide support to the deceased’s family.

Speaking to NationalDailyNews.com.ng on behalf of the family, the immediate elder brother of the late Olaleye said they were unaware that he had been killed while in captivity until Governor Seyi Makinde announced it during a statewide broadcast.

He expressed the family’s shock over the development, noting that they had hoped their relative would return alive alongside the other rescued victims.

The family appealed to the authorities to release the deceased’s body, or at least his remains, to enable them give him a befitting burial in accordance with their tradition.

They also called on both the Federal and Oyo State governments to provide assistance to the widow by helping her secure employment, saying such support would help her cater for the family left behind.

According to the family, the late John Olaleye is survived by his wife and three children.

They therefore appealed to the government to grant the children scholarships or free education to secure their future despite the tragic loss of their father.
