Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has expressed profound relief and joy over the rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire Local Government Area of the state after spending 57 days in captivity.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, Governor Makinde described the development as a huge relief for the state and the families who had anxiously awaited the victims’ release.

The governor said the successful rescue operation brought immense joy to everyone involved, noting that the state had gone through weeks of anxious waiting and prayers for the safe return of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers.

Governor Makinde also expressed appreciation to the security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the military, for their commitment and professionalism throughout the rescue operation.

He equally thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support and the collaborative efforts that culminated in the release of the victims.

“It is such a big relief for all of us and for those waiting for this past 57 days. I think it is a big relief for all of us. We use this opportunity to say thank you to our service commanders; the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the military and, of course, the President.
Right now, I’m just overjoyed; I’ll talk much later when I can put my thoughts together,” the governor said.
