Oriire Abduction: DSS Detains Eight Suspected Kidnappers After Rescue of Oyo School children
…As Presidency says security agencies will soon provide a full account of the rescue operation
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has disclosed that eight suspected kidnappers were arrested during the rescue operation and are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), while some other members of the gang were neutralised.
According to Onanuga, there was no quid pro quo in securing the release of the abducted pupils and teachers, stressing that one of the terrorist kingpins whose release was allegedly demanded by the kidnappers remains in custody and is being prosecuted for his alleged atrocities.
He added that the security agencies would soon provide a comprehensive account of the rescue operation and the circumstances surrounding the release of the victims.
